Donald Claude Brown grew up in Greenville, North Carolina, the second of six children. He did his undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned a varsity letter on the swim team. He completed his medical education at the University of North Carolina Medical School, Chapel Hill.
Dr. Brown completed his family medicine residency at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham. He has served as a volunteer physician in Brazil, Kenya, The Gambia, Nepal and India. He completed post residency fellowships in obstetrics & gynecology and geriatrics and served as a clinical instructor in the Department of Family Medicine at East Carolina University School of Medicine.
Dr. Brown started in solo private practice in Cary in 1987 and then created MacGregor Family Physicians when Dr. Watkins joined the practice in 1993.
Don and his wife Linda live in Cary and have three daughters - Lillian, Hannah and Annabelle. He also has an interest in meditation and Tibetan Buddhism and was instrumental in starting Kadampa Center for the Practice of Tibetan Buddhism in Raleigh.
Dr. Brown is board certified through the American Board of Family Medicine and maintains active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has a strong surgical and emergency medicine background and enjoys caring for patients of all ages.
